Simon Profile Picture

I have been doing something creative on a computer for as long as I can remember. From making posters and greeting cards on my first desktop computer for my family using Brøderbund Print Shop Deluxe to building this very website from scratch using HTML5 and related technologies such as jQuery, AJAX and CSS3.

I have always had a passion for exploring the synthesis of design and technology. I like to think that my broad interests and experience are a strength, which is a notion summarized quite nicely by Adam Savage (of Mythbusters fame) in this quote from his 2012 commencement keynote address at Sarah Lawrence College:

“When solving a problem as a generalist (or to use a more arcane term: a polymath), I can compare the many fields I've dabbled in, their techniques, their philosophies, the ways in which they alter the lens through which I see things, and I can gain a literal perspective on what I'm doing.”

Perspective is important; sometimes you have to step away from what you love to get a better sense of it. Aside from creating things I also enjoy partaking in activities such as tennis, go-karting, concert-going, video gaming, traveling and am a bona fide automotive enthusiast.
